What is therapeutic gaming?
role-playing • social communication • flexible thinking • perspective taking • peer engagement
Therapeutic TTRPG gaming leverages the immersive and interactive nature of role-playing games to create a dynamic and engaging social experience, making it an effective tool for mental health and social development purposes. Players create and role-play characters, which allows them to project aspects of themselves. This can help in developing empathy, self-awareness, and problem-solving skills. The game’s structure allows players to engage in storytelling that can mirror real-life challenges and scenarios. This can help participants work through issues, gain new perspectives, and practice coping strategies, but in the safety of a game. its like a giant open-world video game without the screens and gaming consoles!

how does this help socially?
The Ultimate Group Project!
TABLE TOP ROLE PLAYING GAMES LIKE THIS are inherently social activities, requiring collaboration, communication, and teamwork. These interactions can help participants develop social skills, build relationships, and provide them opportunities to work with others as part of a team. many neurodivergent teens and young adults often avoid team sports, school clubs and often struggle to work in conjunction with a group of peers. this entire adventure is basically one big group project, where their decisions can make a huge impact on the outcome- for better or worse. we utilize the tenants of 'critical core', Developed under the guidance of neurodivergent adults, therapists, educators, psychologists. it fosters a focus on teamwork, social communication, social problem solving, flexible thinking.. more so than just running around dungeons killing cool monsters.
